As I rejoined the circle that last Saturday of preparing, a chorale of resonating yeses filled the air. A typical spontaneous creation game: regardless of what the individual in the focal point of the hover said about shellfishes, it was basic that everybody on the fringe concur. In any case, I was dumbfounded that, rather than giggling, my kindred entertainers commended, and my instructor and legend, Ann-Elizabeth, grinned. What individual was crazy enough to accept what I had quite recently said? On the other hand, I was preparing to be a cast individual from the Bristol Renaissance Faire, where the several entertainers would wear undergarments and period attire made of upholstery from JoAnn Fabrics; they would talk like Shakespeare characters without considering anything it. To put it plainly, they were sufficiently crazy to accept what I stated, or if nothing else profess to. We will compose a custom article test on Shellfishes are Great or on the other hand any comparable subject explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page At the Renaissance Faire, mollusks are nothing. But then I sat shuddering in my shell, shaking from the dread that everybody would snicker at my basic proclamation. A couple of moments later, after everybody had made their proclamationsââ¬twelve ââ¬Å"Clams are greatsâ⬠trailed by a strong cheer and a vigorous ââ¬Å"Yes!â⬠ââ¬Ann-Elizabeth requested reflections. I lifted my hand as though I was electing to be a human penance, and when she approached me I said something significant, however I didnââ¬â¢t hear my own words in my tension. It more likely than not intrigued her, since she angled around in her pockets and gave me fifty pennies for my comment. Soon thereafter, seeing that I had pulled again into my shell, Ann-Elizabeth approached me and reminded me, ââ¬Å"Sometimes you simply need to let yourself go.â⬠By the manner in which she grinned, appreciating a private joke, I realized those words had been mine, and the way that the hugely skilled Ann-Elizabeth had recalled that it made me shine. I had earned that half-dollar. For somebody like the Emily of three years back, ââ¬Å"letting yourself goâ⬠is anything but difficult to guarantee, yet a lot harder to achieve. When I had gotten over the fear of Opening Day (promoted like D-Day and the Great Depression for an explanation), I fell into a groove. I turned out to be excessively OK with my presentation, the same number of on-screen characters do, and I saw no motivation to slither out and about for our benefactors. My trench was two years in length and sufficiently profound that I didnââ¬â¢t have the vitality to move out. My salvation came about nearly coincidentally. An especially bright Saturday had set me in a phenomenal state of mind, a decent change from what had become my standard aura. Since I felt my joy ought to be infectious, I welcomed a grimacing little fellow with the interest, ââ¬Å"Smile, please!â⬠His folks laughed at my solicitation, however more critically, the boyââ¬â¢s lips turned up in a smile, and I expressed gratitude toward him before going on my happy way. This had been the first run through in my three years as an entertainer that I had addressed a supporter, a paying client of the Faire, and it had filled me with such elation that I could scarcely contain myself. I talked with six different benefactors that day, and however not every one of them were as diverted as the first boyââ¬â¢s family, at any rate I had at last ventured out away from any detectable hindrance, if just for a brief period. Before the finish of the late spring, the change was finished. It had taken three years for me to completely appreciate that my fifty-penny intelligence was valid: once in a while, you simply need to release yourself. Obviously, itââ¬â¢s simpler to follow this counsel when I realize I am working with entertainers who will consistently say indeed, regardless of how senseless I am. For reasons unknown, mollusks truly are extraordinary. Mollusks are incredible on the grounds that they put me on a way that permitted me to leave my own inept shell. Shellfishes are extraordinary on the grounds that theyââ¬â¢ll consistently help me to remember how I was previously and why Iââ¬â¢m diverse at this point. Nobody could differ with that. Letters of recommendation are an important part of your overall application packageâ"they provide the only outside information the admissions committee receives about you. One of the most stressful parts of the application process can be picking your recommender. The first question you should ask is who can write a valuable letter? Like many candidates, you may believe that your recommenders must have remarkable credentials and titles to impress the admissions committee. However, what is far more important is selecting individuals who can write a personal and intimate letter that discusses your talents, accomplishments, personality and potential. If senior managers at your company can only describe your work in vague and general terms, they will not help your cause. By contrast, lower-level managers who directly supervise your work can often offer powerful examples of the impact you have on your company, and their letters can be far more effective at getting you accepted into an MBA program. Nonetheless, not all people who know you and your capabilities well will make good recommenders. For starters, of course, you should have some confidence that your potential recommender likes you and will write a positive letter on your behalf! As you contemplate your choices, try to gather some intelligence on your potential recommenders. Have they written letters for anyone else? Are they generous with their time with regard to employee feedback and review sessions? Will they devote the effort and time necessary to write a letter that will really shine? (See also our blog post Mission Admission: Research Your Recommenders.) If your prospective MBA program asks for two letters of recommendation, then generally, you should approach two of your recent supervisors, with one ideally being your current supervisor. Your letters will have added credibility if they are written by individuals who are senior to you, because your recommenders are in evaluative positions and will not have anything to lose by critically appraising your candidacy. If you are unable to ask your current supervisor (and there are a number of reasons that might be the case), do not panic! Students have need of support from family and educators alike. However, students with special needs can and often do require a more elaborate team of specialists. The special education team consists of several different people from many different teams. These teams include: the parents; the mental health workers in the school; the mental health workers outside of the school; general education teachers; special education teachers; and special therapists (speech, physical, and occupational). This case study of a high school freshman with autism will examine each team memberââ¬â¢s role in the education of this exceptional student. The special education history and individual education plan in this case study will focus on a fourteen year old freshman that has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Emotional Disability (SED), and Other Health Impairment (OHI) including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and a Speech Impairment. The family stated that they were made aware of the possibility of disabilities when the student was in sixth grade. You are to walk and talk as he did when he walked the earth. But, as a Buddhist, you take on the likeness of a child that did not want to be a ââ¬Å"god.â⬠I will talk about the differences between Christianity and Buddhism and then give information on the matters. But, first we will have to understand the formation and beginnings of the two religions. Buddhism, which has been around for over 2500 years, was started because of a little boy who was chosen by his father after birth to be significant because of certain markings or signs on the little babyââ¬â¢s body. Growing up, this boy was sheltered from all negativity and given a life where he was never allowed to see or experience anything negative or bad. His dad felt that he would have so much compassion for people and want to save them from hurt if he saw the bad things in the world. And, his dad wanted him to become an Emperor and rule the people, not feel sorry for them and try to save them from harm. The very thing that his dad thought turned out to be true for Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha snuck away to experience the real world and once exposed, decided he wanted to give up his life of luxury and live a simple life while finding the answers he was looking for. Canadaââ¬â¢s middle class is the richest among other big nations. Since 2000, median income in Canada has grown 19.7%, compared to the 0.3% growth in the United States. Since Canada has taken aggressive steps to raise their citizensââ¬â¢ take-home pay, they need to spend that extra earned income to keep the economy flowing in a positive direction. The one thing you have to consider while talking about cost structure is the quality of the product. Although Wawa is seen as having higher prices they also provide food and services that go far beyond any top competitor in the market. A weak online presence is not good for a company because it results in lost opportunities. Online marketing is a huge part of business these days, and Wawaââ¬â¢s lack thereof may be the cause of no knowledge about the store in Canada. Social media and online advertisement goes a long way with how prevalent people are on computers. The online market offers Wawa great opportunity for expansion. The amazing thing about the online market is that you can advertise to a much wider group of people for less expense than alternate ways. This would be a great way to spread awareness of the company before transitioning into a new economy where Wawa is unknown. Another great opportunity that has come with the upbringing of new technology is mobile shopping. Being able to shop on a mobile phone or laptop and have your products delivered is as convenient as a convenient store will ever get. This tactic by grocery and convenient stores has grown in popularity and attracts clients that do not have time to travel to the store. Answer: Environmental Analysis As is with all industries, the business environment plays a key role in either its success or utter failure (Wood, 2011). Various forces, both external and internal, affect thebusiness outcome and their consideration is crucial in the formulation of any strategic plan (Freisner, 2011). Burger Hut, a strong member of the fast food industry, is party to these market forces. The launch of the The Burger Daddy is aided by strategic analysis of how to work these forces for a successful product rollout and marketing. The marketing environment comprises the macro, micro, and internal environments. PESTEL The macro environmentis best quantified by a PESTEL analysis, which is broken down into Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal factors (Yksel, 2012).Apart from sales and other internal factors, external factors also affecta firms profitability and growth(Gillespie, 2007). Political factors The fast-food industry is often at the mercy of emerging trends. The current healthy living trend that has fueled rise to theemergence of similarly themed restaurants and a pickiness in the consumer market. Public health institutions have also taken up the mantle to advocate for choosing healthier lifestyles amongst their respective citizens leading to an even greater popularization of the same. Policies in some regions require industry players to indicate the calories in their products openly. Extension of this to import and export authorities could infringe on what some countries allow into their borders and what is disallowed (Gupta, 2013). Fast food outlets like Burger Hut could put this into consideration and look into incorporating healthier options for their consumers and regulation of both new and existing products to ensure compliance with any political requirements in their external markets. Trading agreements between Burger Hut and their current operating markets are equal ly as important. With thehiring of personnel comes employment regulation policies which differ between states and countries, legal issues and environmental legislation. Economic factors Economic factors drive the supply and demand relationships in the market, with businesses remaining susceptible to inflation, fluctuating exchange rates, cost of living and wage rate (Jurevicius, 2013). In countries where fast food outlets are present, they offer convenience and are a necessity to many. They are a preferred purchase as they are either ready-made or easy to make. Depending on market location and prevailing policy, factors such as taxation, interest charged on food and how much consumers are willing to spend go a long way in dictating economic options and opportunities available in the industry. Burger Hut must analyze the economicimplications of the The Burger Daddy to the company. Social factors Consumer preference cause shifts in fast food trends with health and lifestyle trends becoming the major focus in many countries (Rothaermel, 2015). This extends to snacks and beverages and all others. There is a rise in consumption of organic and whole foods as people are now keen and prefer options with low calories. The societys perspective on health has greatlyevolved. Media, both tradition and electronic, has played a part in the formulation of this perception. Social factors are likely to affect the market of Burger Huts new tasty burger. After enforcing effective cognitive component through launching the new burger, Burger Hut will be able to affect the consumers feelings and emotions towards the burger and restaurant. Technological factors The fast-food industry relies heavily on technology for convenience and customer service. Firms in the industry such as Burger Hut interact with technological factors as they interact with customers and advertise their products. With the advent of the internet and social media, customer service has greatly evolved as online ordering becomes the norm (Ho, 2014). Burger Huts strategy to launch the The Burger Daddy will be directly affected by technological factors in the environment as the company advertises the product and interacts with its diverse customer base. Environment factors There has been growing pressure from relevant governing bodies for firms to adopt greener business approaches.Governments have set out rules and regulations that impose strict standards that all firms are expected to comply with. Benefits of adopting a green approach range from environmental preservation, proper waste management, and customer loyalty. Burger Hut must be innovative in its sustainability approach as they launch their new burger. Legal factors The law is important in standardizing and controlling various activities. In the fast food industry, main aspects affected by laws are related to nutritional value, packaging, marketing, waste management, and the quality of food (Nestle, 2013). Burger Hut must ensure that the launch of the The Burger Daddycomplies with all relevant laws. SWOT Environmental factors that are not directly within an organizations control constitutes the micro-environment. These factors include competitors, suppliers, stakeholders, and consumer trends (Helms Nixon, 2010). The microenvironment is often analyzed using the Strength, Weakness, Threats, and Opportunities (SWOT) analysis. Strengths One of the main strengths possed by Burger Hut is in their brand awareness and catchy advertisement campaigns This makes it easier for the restaurant to communicate the new product to consumers and inform them of the new burger. The Burger Daddy is tailored to meet the consumer trends in the market. Burger Huts strategy to diversify its products serves to strategically position the company in the consumer market by providing demographically adapted menus. Weaknesses Burger Hut needs to improve on their healthy food choices to keep up with the competition and achieve their organizational goal (Hollensen, 2015).The company has in the past experienced negative publicity due to their unhealthy menus. Burger Hut must enforce appropriate measure to alleviate their weaknesses. Opportunities Opportunities that exist for Burger Hut as a result of theintroduction of the new burger include the possibility to expand their menu to capitalize on an emerging consumer trend in the market. Furthermore, marketing campaigns to the launch the new burger could increase sales of Burger Hut due to increased brand awareness. The new burger could be tailored to address an emerging consumer trend in the market. Threats Among the major threats facing fast food restaurants is the health concerns associated with high-calorie foods. Burger Hut also faces threats from strong and established competitors such as Burger Hut and MacDonalds. Rules and regulations requiring governing the fast food industry may affect the launch of the new burger. Marketing Communication Objectives These are objectives formulated by a firm with the intention to continuously create brand awareness over time. Market communication objectives aim to persuade the consumers while reinforcing the brand preference consistently. The objectives that Burger Hut aims to achieve in their marketing during the launch of their new burger include increasing awareness, changing consumer attitudes, influence purchase intent, and drive brand migration. The fast food restaurant will use a tri-component attitude model in launching the new burger. The model which is composed of cognitive, afffective, and conative components serves to aid in successfully launching the new burger. The cognitive component involves informing consumers of the products exixstence. This will be achieved through leveraging the restaurants strengths and brand awareness by enforcing advertisement and personal selling campaigns. The affective component aims to change the consumers feeling towards the product. The final part of the tri-component model aims to drive consumers into the action of buying the Big Daddy. Brand Awareness A brand awareness objective is especially effective when introducing a new product into the market or launching a new company. The objective aims to inform people of the existence of the specific product or company. Brand awareness activities include Tv commercials, print advertisements, broadcast among others (Andreyeva, Kelly Harris, 2011). For a successful brand awareness campaign, it is important to use a catchy slogan repetitively. During the launch of The Burger Daddy,' Burger Hut the marketing team must ensure that the marketing campaigns reach the largest target audience possible. The burger must be memorable and appealing to the consumers. This strategy serves to accomplish the cognitive component of Burger Huts tri-component attitude model. Consumer Attitudes Another crucial objective when communicating marketing campaigns is to alter the consumers perspective on a company or its products (Rosenheck, 2008). This is especially important for Burger Hut so as to mend their damaged image as a result of the negative publicity they faced sometime back. The consumers attitudes may be changed by use of commercials aimed to portray the companys efforts in providing quality consumer services, environmental preservation, charity works and other activities (Ajzen, 2008). Burger Hut must enforce appropriate strategies to influence the consumers attitudes before launching The Burger Daddy.'After informing customers of the new burger, the next task in the tri-component attitude model is to appeal to their feelings and emotions towards the burger. Purchasing Intent An organization can influence the consumers preference and motivation to buy their products through persuasive advertising. This method of advertisingportrays your products and services as better and superior to the competition (Lee et al., 2011). It is important to identify and focus on the consumers purchase triggers. Ceratin things attract consumers to select one product over another. Burger Hut can run a commercial which shows a hungry student looking for an affordable, tasty, and wholesome meal while hurrying off to class. The students after eating The Burger Daddy makes it to class on time completely satisfied. Brand Migration In order to poach customers from the competitors, Burger Hut can enforce measures to convince consumers toswitch to the The Burger Daddy.' The can be achieved by using comparative advertisement showing why Burger Huts products are better than the competitors (Bronnenberg, Dub Gentzkow, 2012). Since customers already purchase similar products, it provides Burger Hut with the simple task of convincing them to crossover. Both purchasing intent and brand migration complete the tri-component attitude model of Burger Hut by achieving the conative aspect through driving consumers into the action of buying the burger. Marketing Communication Strategy Marketing awareness aids in the development of brand awareness, meaning that product information is translated into perceptions about its attributes and market position (Willson Gilligan, 2012). Market communication is used by businesses in customer base retention and cementing relationships for consumers and suppliers alike. Come up with an effective strategy with several marketing communication components. Business can reach large consumer audiences by either targeting certain markets or just mass market appeal (Lang Heasman, 2015). Direct communicationto consumers is brought about by personal selling, as is the case in a retail setting. Direct marketing alleviates the need for third parties, examples being direct mails and product catalogs. During sales, consumers are provided with the incentive to buy products or more products than they would normally do. A variety of marketing communications strategies are often madeutilized by businesses. Consumer trust is imparted by company owners using personal stories as an origin for the business. Businesses should clearly present products. They should be able to set themselves apart from the competition. Testimonials highlight a business and its products value. Advertising Today, the media is one of the most powerful tools. It remains the predominant source of information regarding all matters in almost all nations. It has an immense influence on the peoples beliefs and opinions and has helped shape a lot of peoples thoughts and inclinations. Most consumers tend to believe information disseminated by the media compared to that heard by word of mouth from friends and family. That makes the media a valuable information tool. Burger Hut, therefore, aims to utilize an advertising to market its new burger, The Burger Daddy.'Advertising relates to print media, television broadcasts, and commercials. Advertising is among the most effective ways to communicate a message and influence the decisions of consumers. Burger Hut can utilize an advertising system suitable for the The Burger Daddy burger. In their advertisement campaigns, Burger Hut should concentrate on the advantages the customers get by buying the new burger. This marketing campaign is expected to re ach a large number of consumers by utilizing daily newspapers, billboards, catchy Tv commercials at strategic hours, and through the radio. Personal Selling and Sales promotion According to Ferrell, Johnson Ferrell (2007), personal selling is a marketing strategy whereby the employees of an organization ore used by to promote specified products by using their product knowledge, appearance, and attitude to influence a consumers perception of a product. Personal selling and sales promotion modes of communicating in the Burger Huts media strategy will be implemented at each of their numerous branches. The Burger Daddy burger will be promoted in all Burger Hut restaurants at point-of-sale.Serving attendants will be under instructions to casually suggest the new burger to customers. This will further be complemented by a flashy menu aimed at attracting the attention of the consumer. The Burger Daddy burger will be offered at a discount for a few months after its launch. This sales promotion strategy will help alleviate the risk of customer reluctance to try out the new burger. Burger Hut will also embark on an aggressive campaign to advertise a buy one get one free offer depicting the burgers as police partners. Branding Maclnnis, Park Priester (2014) describe branding as away through which a business makes a promise to its customers. Branding is a very important marketing communication strategy to any organization. A product or company brand is the first thing a person perceives about a product or organization when they think about it. This image continuously evolves with the consumers behavior. The main purpose of branding is differentiating a companys products or services from those of the competitors. Burger Hut must, therefore, enforce a creative and appealing branding strategy that portrays Burger Hut and the Burger Daddy burger as the only solution to their hunger and taste needs. This strategy will be enforced by Burger Huts logo and slogan. The new burger is expected to be a success judging from the opinions of a few selected consumers interviewed during a market research activity by the marketing team. Evaluation and control methods Raith (2008) defines performance measurement a process of accumulating and utilizing data related to an organization or individuals in the organization. Organizations enforce performance measure to track their progress and ensure they meet the pre-set goals and objectives (Merchant and Van der Stede, 2007).The main areas of performance measurement are marketing and sales, research and development, and most importantly customers. Burger Hut uses aneffectiveness measurement or outcome measures strategy in point-of-sale information collection and tracking online consumer habits. The marketing team of Burger Hut collects information on customer satisfaction and response to the new burger through activities and processes such as a client feedback system. Measures are then taken to improve operational performance and enhance a positive customer satisfaction feedback. After measuring the performance of the burger, the final step in Burger Huts service delivery process is monitoring and evalua tion. Burger Hut monitors the response to the burger based on social media traffic, volume of sales, and market share. References Andreyeva, T., Kelly, I. R., Harris, J. L. (2011). His name is celebrated in the art world, much as Picasso or Stravinsky. Balanchine was arguably the most influential person in ballet, and his legacy continues to benefit the world of ballet long after George Balanchine was born Georgi Melitonovitch Balanchivadze in St. Petersburg, Russia. He was born the son of a composer, and as such, was exposed to music at any early age, not often experienced by any other composer. At the age of five, Balanchine began to take piano lessons, and at nine years old, "he was accepted into the ballet section of St. Petersburg's rigorous Imperial Theater School, and, with other young students, was soon appearing on the stage of the famed Maryinsky Theater in such spectacles as The Sleeping Beauty." ("George Balanchine, 1904-1983") While dancing, the multitalented Balanchine enrolled in the Petrograd Conservatory of Music, where for three years, he studied piano, music theory, composition, harmony, and counterpoint. ("SAB Biography") During the Russian Revolution, Balanchine oftentimes played the piano in cabarets or at silent movie houses for bread. It was this broad musical schooling that allowed Balanchine, as a choreographer, to communicate so effectively with the composers he worked with. In addition, he utilized this training to make piano reduction of orchestral scores, which helped him in translating music to dance. ("George Balanchine, 1904-1983") As a teenager, Balanchine began to work on choreography. His first piece, La Nuit, a pas de deux, was set to the music of Anton Rubinstein, and was created for himself and a female student. He staged one work for the Corps de Ballet entitled Enigmas, however he was more focused on choreographic experiments outside... The success of the firm can be considered as the result of a well structured strategic planning process where the needs of the firmââ¬â¢s departments are aligned and are appropriately served through flexible strategic measures. At the time when the firm established ââ¬â in 1957 ââ¬â the use of strategic planning for the promotion of a firmââ¬â¢s interests was limited. Through the years, the firm managed to improve its strategic plans responding to the customer demands but also to the global competition ââ¬â which has been increased at quite high levels the last decade. The firm has chosen to apply three different ââ¬â in terms of their duration - strategic plans. In the short term, the improvement of the firmââ¬â¢s finances has been set as a priority ââ¬â the pressure of the global competition is clear. In the medium term, however, the firm chooses to focus on its goals and its resources (both capital and human resources). In the long term, the criteria for the development of the firmââ¬â¢s strategic choices are going to be reviewed; the improvement of the firmââ¬â¢s position in the global market (1st position in the specific industrial sectors worldwide) would be then an achievable target. The success of the strategic planning process used by the firm can be proved primarily by its performance. In accordance with the figures related with the firmââ¬â¢s activities ââ¬â as included in its financial statements ââ¬â the sales of Canon have been increased to 3,468 billion (2004) from 4.2 billion in the first year that the firm entered the particular industry (in 1950). The particular elements of the firmââ¬â¢s strategic planning process can be identified in Figure 5 (Appendix). The range of the firmââ¬â¢s products is significant including computer, optical products, photocopiers and cameras. He doesnââ¬â¢t go underground through the exploration of the surface. Weena was annoyed when she realized on what was happening. Time Travelers feels soft hand of Morlock touching him which in a way jolts him. He then follows the tunnel and finds full of a caravan machinery. He is not worried by the feeling of blood. (Wells 6) The chapter presents Time Traveler thinking about the meat as seen underground. He walks to the Palace Green Porcelain with Weena. As he walks, he packs the office with flowers. As they walk the place is far and at night they decide to take a night at the hill. In this chapter, he realizes that the concerns of the human being are small and that the history of human being is easy to wipe. (Wells 7) As they reach the palace, they are reminded of the museum and they explore it as they tend to get tools to help him in getting the Morlocks. He gets weapons and now feels he is ready to kill some Morlocks. He walks and finds the weapon section though he is a bit disappointed as he realized that all the guns are rusted. Moore related that as early as 1978, regular mail service was used to aid distance education, but the advent of the internet brought new and exceptional dimensions to the world of distance education (10). It offered access to geographically and physically separated individuals to courses and instruction in a more interactive manner through increased education, interactivity among participants, and incorporation of collaborative pedagogical models. But even with the increasing number of courses and degrees delivered entirely online, and the number of supporters this type of education has gained, many still express opposition to it as against the traditional classroom education. Former college teacher James Barszczââ¬â¢s is one well-known critic of distance education. He strongly asserts in his essay that distance learning cannot fulfill the true purpose of education. The diffusion of the Internet worldwide has literally changed the traditional structure of the school, and, as it can be noticed from the previous examples, it is doing in many different ways that are more and more interesting. It must not be forgotten, of course, that parents keep on worrying about the fact their childrenââ¬â¢s opinions are circulating all over the world and that this could mean danger and repression for them. These anxieties, however, cannot erase the advantages coming from the introduction of this new technology into the educational are, most importantly, of bringing education to everyone. But what is the true purpose of education, really? In its most basic sense, I strongly believe that the essence of education is to instill in an individual the capability to make out at the world for oneself, to generate oneââ¬â¢s own choices, to declare what is black or what is white. In whatever manner this education may come from, it is still learning and discovering about new things that help shape a person into what he is. Distance learning has brought a remarkable means of delivering this education to students in rural or remote areas, so that they make take advantage of continuing learning and give them the ability to schedule learning at times convenient to them. Not only that, a great number of distance education programs cater to the requirements of a lot of diverse people of all ages, sexes, occupations, learning backgrounds and health conditions. Granted that personal contact which is very important in effective education is missing with this kind of education, but as is the situation with all new technologies, there are negative and positive aspects to distance learning. Many instructors, as well as students of distance education miss this. Distance learning can admittedly be lonely sometimes. There is always a price to pay, whether it be big or small. Although this is the case, steps could be done to assuage this drawback. Encouraging students to share something about themselves is one activity that can at least give all participants the feeling that they know something about their colleague and the professor. Additionally, many courses are well supported and, for students who are unable to attend residential events, there are usually opportunities for students to participate in online discussion groups, clubs and societies. It would be noteworthy to point out that for distance learning to be effective, a conducive learning environment needs to be created and maintained. Considerable thought and effort should go into the criteria required for setting-up learning centers and how these criteria would be put into practice and monitored. If this would be followed, distance education, with an extensive record of providing learning to out-of-the-way and distant learners, will become the effective, mainstream method of education and training that advocates claim it to be. In a world where continuous learning is a must, distance education has paved the way for everyone to have access to the educational system without having to physically go to school. Discipline is needed, of course, but it is one value that even traditional schooling teaches students to have. In the end, distance education can only provide a win-win situation for everyone involved in it. A first influence was John Locke's idea of Empiricism, which was the idea that all knowledge was gained by experiences, exclusively through the senses. A second vital influence was Transcendentalism, which was a reaction to Empiricism.à While John Locke believed that reality or truth was constituted by the material world and by the senses, Transcendentalists believed that reality and truth exist within the spiritual or ideal world. They believed that the external world was dependent solely on the conscious. Beverly Voloshin suggests that "Poe presents transcendental projects which threaten to proceed downward rather than upward" (19). Here it becomes obvious that there is a strong connection between John Locke's Empiricism and the resulting ideas of Transcendence, and the powerful effect that they had on Poe and other emerging Romantic writers of that time. In "The Fal l of the House of Usher," Poe establishes a new type of literature, one that emphasizes aspects of Empiricism as well as the idea of Transcendence. Poe uses this unique literature to introduce the Usher mansion and its intriguing and very troubled inhabitants. à Locke wrote the "Essay Concerning Human Understanding," which was published in 1690, and is credited with opening up the period of Enlightenment in Europe.à Its strongest connection to Poe was that it had aà "late popularity in New England"(Voloshin 18). With this popularity in New England, many of the writers of the time either voiced their approval of Empiricism, or took an opposite stance in their literature. Locke believed th... ...an upward. "The tales have a paradoxical structure in which transcendence is figured as an outward or downward movement, as the method for going beyond the universe of Lockean empiricism is to go through it" (Voloshin 19).à Poe brings this out with the narrator's "depression" and the "unredeemed dreariness of thought."à The language that is used in "The Fall of the House of Usher" presents a connection between the mental and the physical world, which then correlates with the debate between Transcendentalists and the empiricism presented nearly two centuries before. à à Works Cited Koster, Donald N. These questions come as a result of us being curious about what is around us. Man has to be aware of himself and his immediate environment. Generally, one of the basic characteristic of human beings is self-awareness and self-discovery. Man finds himself doing some things and wonders why he is doing such things the way he/she is doing them. Thus, in order for man to function properly in his society, he must understand some things about himself in order to unlock the mystery behind his behavioral pattern. This becomes important because self-discovery is the only way to understand oneââ¬â¢s place or position in the universe. Personally, I have sought to know how my life fits into my environment. For one, I believe that things donââ¬â¢t just happen and that man is not just created to fill an empty space. This has made me embark on a quest to understand what the world actually is and how I fit into this mysterious world. I am a proponent of the purposeful universe and I believe, as opposed to the idea of Charles Darwin, that the world is essentially created to fulfill a purpose and that it is part of a ââ¬Å"master planâ⬠. Therefore whatever happens in this life, as I believe, is to fulfill a purpose and come from intent. The question here is who is the purposed the world and who is the master planner? In her book titled, ââ¬Å"The Hidden Heart of the Cosmosâ⬠, Brian Swimme maintained that the world is not a series of puzzle but an amazing mystery that shows the presence of God in each passing phase. This essentially deviates from the theory of evolution. For Brian, we as humans are at the center of the universe and our discovery of this fact will determine make us appreciate the world we live in the more. He believes that not only is the universe a work of the divine, it is also supported by the will of the divine. Therefore, we will be making a categorical mistake by conceiving that things or occurrences in the world are merely a product of chance. From my point of view, I think that Brian Swimme has a point. This is because some things can not be explained from the point of Darwinism. For instance, as a child, I have always wondered which came first between the chicken and the egg. If eggs hatches into chickens and chickens lay eggs, then which one will we say came first? Although science can be credited for a lot of things that they have sought real explanations to, there are some things that transcend scientific explanation. This is accounted for in the thought of Huston Smith. In his book titled ââ¬Å"Why Religion Matters; The Fate of the Human Spirit in an Age of Disbeliefâ⬠, he claims that scientism has taken over all spheres of our lives and we will be committing a mistake if we believe that its explanations are the only valid explanations. I believe that the world is a masterpiece and it is sustained by the master planner ââ¬â the silent onlooker who sees and sustains the universe with his power and in his might. Furthermore, I believe that since the world is created for a specific purpose, then man as an integral part of this universe is also created for a purpose, which is to be the representative of the divine here on earth. Consequently, this should make us pursue some values that will facilitate the purpose of the divine in this world. I believe that the divine has given man the power to make choices but that power should be tailored towards the achievement of the divine purpose. Liberty, as I believe, is not the right to do what we ââ¬Å"wantâ⬠but we are at liberty so that we can do what we ââ¬Å"have to doâ⬠. As a result of these, I live with the consciousness of the fact that I have to fulfill my purpose. Personally, I believe that we as humans should value the equality of humanity and should treat each man as Immanuel Kant said; we should treat each man as an end in themselves and never as a means to an end. I believe that we should strive for whatever will be considered virtuous by the divine. As human beings, we must seek to value each other by being truthful and faithful to one another. This, for me, is the greatest form of respect that we can give one another. Internet has been the fastest source of all kinds of information nowadays. We can just visit the net, type, click search then we can get what we need and learn what we consider as necessary in our life. Some even look up the latest news neither in the television nor in radio but instead in the internet already. Yes indeed it is one of the easiest and quickest ways to get news. But, the question is, is it accurate enough to believe? People in this generation are very dependent on the web because of the variety of things that the internet can do. It is very easy for them to spread the news through the use of web sites, forums, and blogging without undergoing security measures or even verifications. An information about an event occurred here in the Philippines can even reach the whole world in no time. This has somehow brought danger in the condition of Philippine news media in talking about the context of how it is formed. The internet affects the precision of news concerni ng crucial events happening in the country and other places globally. And when a critical incident is taking place, all eyes are focused on it since it has become abundant and circulating freely in the net that everyone can have an access with it. Just like what is happening in Twitter and Face book, which are social networking sites where people starts to update their accounts regarding issues of their lives, fabricating various posts on the latest happening. They post whatever they hear on the radio and watch on the television though itââ¬â¢s not yet final and confirmed that eventually makes people to start exchanging unproved details thus forming up altered news. These situation leads to the weakening of the news mediaââ¬â¢s credibility in terms of propagating news stories. Itââ¬â¢s now then hard to control the spreading out of news to whomever in the net. Random people, even people outside the country can read it and in the long run would believe it and have, more or less the wrong perception of the issue about our country. The truthfulness is by then changed. In due course, the true and exact details are hard to figure out. Then, confusion follows. Just in the recent hostage drama initiated by Mr. Rolando Mendoza, the webââ¬â¢s role had been tested. Iââ¬â¢ve personally seen various reports and statements about the drama. Distinctively, a noticeable change in number of killed people was observed. Some sites said it was 9 some said it was 7. It did not show a clear picture of the truth because of the varied information that were coming out but still, it did shocked its readers and created a great impact towards them which has resulted to different reaction that has worsen or improved the condition of the Philippine news media and society. Other example of such is the spread of showbiz news in the net. Showbiz has been a hot topic for all season since people love to intrigue and have this passion for rumors about people whom they d o not personally know. There are various web sites with the intention of featuring the updates on the lives of the ââ¬Å"starsâ⬠or ââ¬Å"celebrities. â⬠One will say this and the other will interpret it differently and then pass it again to others. The wrong unreliable information that frequently passed on to the internet has caused damage not only to the people involved but also the country where these people involved belongs to. As a result, erroneous and immense issues concerning them were constructed which deteriorate their credibility as a public figure and as a citizen of the country. Individuals are blaming the Philippine news media whenever they get incorrect reports. They tend to forget that internet can also be the reason for that. Our mediaââ¬â¢s integrity is now at stake since peopleââ¬â¢s minds get tangled by the various and altered news. Instead of helping, internet causes further bewilderment. People canââ¬â¢t now figure out the truth. They ar e misled by anonymous information spreading. Of course, it is good to have assorted source of news but if the meticulousness of details are at risk, better yet have one reliable source. And spend time to get into the core of the issue and grasp what is the truth. Whatââ¬â¢s the point of having a quick way of spreading news if its straightforwardness is lessened? Accuracy is much more important than speed and it is still better to believe in things that you have actually found out yourself rather than consider things that you have just heard from or read from the internet. Gangnam Style, a K-pop single by Korean musician Psy was released in July 2012 and became an instant sensation all across the world. The popularity of this song and dance went viral, however, there is an prominent issue with the stereotype of asian males. Gangnam style is a a great example and representation on the emphasis of how established stereotypes of Asian males remain and continue in the media, particularly in Western media. In a personal opinion, Gangnam Style is such a success due to its Asian stereotype that is depicted as being fascinating and almost comical. The song has little English words and many people in the world do not understand a single word of the lyrics, let alone the meaning of it. The reason I picked this topic is because itââ¬â¢s safe to say that almost everyone in the world knows, or has heard of this song and I donââ¬â¢t understand why, and I can only come to conclude that it is due to this racist, yet evolving stereotype of the Asian male represen ted in its music video. Gangnam style isnââ¬â¢t just another well-known song, to me, the music video is a little offensive and makes me wonder if people actually realize how unpleasant and discriminating the music video is. Answer: Feasibility Report on Project Milagro Project Milagro is a project taken under Human Resource division to reduce the operational time for a new employee. Target of this project is to minimize the time entity takes to onboard new resources its recruited. Time reduction leads to reduced cost and increased profitability for company. At current situation company takes 10 business days to set up working facilities for a new employee and project target is to reduce such time to 5 business days, which result in saving time and cost. Other than this a new employee takes 60 days to work independently and during these days he can work up to his 80% capacity. So during this period entity loses 20% of their effective time which results in increased cost of establishing a new employee. It is expected that after project completion these 60 days will reduce to 45 days and hence entity will save 20% cost for 15 days at least. 1. We have analyzed the project Milagro and observe cost avoidance per employee is not calculated correctly. Following are some area of concerns: A. After project completion idle time per employee during set up period is 5 business days whereas at current situation it takes 10 days. So cost can be avoided for 5 working days after set up, whereas as per project statistics all 10 days cost is taken as avoidable cost which is not correct. After project completion also company has to bear cost for 5 business days, which is not avoidable. As per project, avoidable cost is $ 3,200 per employee (10 days* 8 Hours * $ 40 per hour). But as per feasibility report, avoidable cost is $ 1,680 per employee (5 days * 8 Hours * $42 per hour). So there is difference of $ 1,520 per employee during set up period only. 1. Again as per project, in first 60 days employee will not be able to work independently so there is not fully utilization of capacity. As per project statistics entity will save 20% cost for 60 days for an employee which comes to $ 3,840 per employee (60 days * 8 hours * $ 40 per hour * 20%). But our observation is different from it, as after completion of project an employee can work independently after 45 days only instead of 60 days. During this 45 days also, employee will utilize its 80% capacity. So after comparing both the situation we can find that there is saving of only 20% during last 15 days. So actual avoidable cost is $1,008 per employee (15 days * 8 Hour * $ 42 per hour * 20%). So there is difference of $ 2,832 in avoidable cost per employee as per our observation and project calculation. 2. New hire amount is $ 42 per hour per employee. As per this new avoidance cost is as follows: Idle time sitting cost for set up period: 5 business days * 8 hours * $ 42 per hour = $ 1680 per employee Further, 20 % capacity which can be utilized for extra 15 days after project completion is also saving. So cost of this time is also avoidable cost. = (60 days 45 days) * 8 hours * $ 42 per hour * 20% = $ 1008 per employee So, total cost which can be avoided = $ 1680 + $ 1008 = $ 2688 per employee 3. Breakeven point is the point where total project cost can be realized by saving in employee hiring cost. Actual total cost of project is $ 220000 which was earlier calculated as $ 226000. Breakeven point for this project = Total Project Cost Cost avoidance per new hire = $ 220000 $ 2688 = 82 employees As per current project details, entity has to hire 82 employees to recover its project cost. 4. As per given project cost, cost which can be avoided and planning to hire number of employee it is not feasible to go forward with this project, as project cost is higher than planned cost saving. After hiring 82 employees entity can recover its cost whereas entity is planning to hire only 40 employees. So project is not feasible. 5. There are some improvements has to be done in project so that it can achieve its target. Following improvements can be done: 1. Total project cost should be reduced.2. Process of setting up infrastructure should be revisited and needs radical changes so that time of set up can be reduced.3. There should be agreement with supplier of all infrastructure facilities provider so that within two business day all required item can be purchased.4. Minimum period required to start working independently has to reduce or at least maximum capacity can be used for such period. So wastage of effective time has to reduce from 20%. With the advent of compact fluorescent lights, they are becoming commonplace in most homes as well. Fluorescent lights are less expensive to buy compared to how long they last (about 13 times longer than regular incandescent bulbs) and they are much less expensive to operate. They require a fraction of the energy that incandescent bulbs use. But they can have negative impacts on your health. The Problems There were hundreds of studies done over the last quarter of the last century that showed causal links between elongated exposure to fluorescent lights and various negative effects. The foundation of most of these problems is the quality of light thats emitted. Some of the theories about negative effects or dangers stem from the fact that we evolved with the sun as our main source of light. It is only relatively recently, with the proliferation of electricity, that humankind has taken complete control of the night and interior spaces. Before that, most light came from the sun or a flame. Since flames dont give much light, humans usually woke along with sunrise and worked outdoors or, later in our history, by windows. With the light bulb, we had the ability to do more at night and to work in enclosed rooms without windows. When the fluorescent lights were invented, businesses had access to a cheap and durable light source and they adopted it. But fluorescent bulbs do not produce the same type of light as the sun gives us. The sun produces a full spectrum light: that is, a light that spans the entirety of the visual spectrum. In fact, the sun gives a lot more than the visual spectrum. Incandescent lights give off a full spectrum, but not as much as sunlight. Fluorescent lights give off a rather limited spectrum. A lot of human body chemistry is based on the day-night cycle, which is also known as the circadian rhythm. Theoretically, if you do not get sufficient exposure to sunlight, your circadian rhythm gets thrown off and that, in turn, throws off your hormones with some negative health impacts. Health Effectsà There are a number of negative health effects that have been linked to working under fluorescent lights that are theorized to be caused by this disturbance to our circadian rhythms and the accompanying body chemistry mechanisms. These negative health effects may include: MigrainesEye strainProblems sleeping, due to melatonin suppressionSymptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder or depressionEndocrine disruption and poor immune systemsFemale hormonal/menstrual cycle disruptionIncreases in breast cancer rates and tumor formationStress/Anxiety, due to cortisol suppressionSexual development/maturation disruptionObesityAgoraphobia (anxiety disorder) Flickering The other main cause of problems with fluorescent lights is that they flicker. Fluorescent light bulbs contain a gas that gets excited and glows when electricity is passed through this. The electricity is not constant. It is controlled by an electric ballast that pulses on and off really quickly. To most people, the flicker is so fast that it looks like the light is on constantly. However, some people can perceive the flicker even if they cant consciously see it. This may cause: MigrainesHeadachesEye strainStress/Anxiety Additionally, fluorescent bulbs, especially cheaper bulbs, may have a green cast to them, making all the colors in your environment more drab and sickly looking. There is some theory that this, at the least, affects mood. The Solutions If you are forced to work/live beneath fluorescent lights for extended periods of time each day there are a number of things you can do to combat the negative effects. The first is to get out in the sun more. Getting sun exposure, especially for stints in the morning, midday, and late afternoon, can help maintain your circadian rhythm. Putting in some windows, skylights, or solar tubes to bring sunlight into your interior environment can help as well. Short of bringing in sunlight itself, you can bring in a light source with a fuller spectrum. There are some full spectrum and daylight spectrum fluorescent lights on the market that have a better color temperature spread than regular fluorescent lights, so they do help, but they dont replace sunlight. Alternately you can put a full spectrum light filter over your fluorescent bulb or light fixture lens that alters the light coming out of the fluorescent bulb and gives it a fuller spectrum. These tend to give off more Ultraviolet (UV) rays that may cause skin problems, prematurely age materials like plastic or leather, and cause photos to fade. Incandescent lights do a decent job of providing a good spectrum of light that most people respond to well. Another benefit of incandescent lights is that they are a constant light source that doesnt flicker. If you perceive the fluorescent flicker, having a single incandescent light bulb on in the room can be enough to cover the flicker and keep it from affecting you. These bulbs can also balance out any green tint given off by the fluorescent bulb. In some cases, phototherapy, or light box therapy, can counteract lack of sunlight exposure. This is a common treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder and it uses an incredibly bright light for a limited amount of time to help keep your body chemistry regulated. Optometrists have long prescribed glasses with a very light rose-colored tint on them to counteract the effects of working under fluorescent lights, especially in women who are experiencing hormonal problems. Finally, flicker problems can be improved by using fluorescent light fixtures that use electronic ballasts as opposed to magnetic ones. The zebra is one unique animal. Zebras are one of the marvelous animals in Africa. About the size of a small horse, these amazing animals are about 50-53 inches in height. When a male zebra grows up, he can weigh up to 520 pounds! It's a good thing that the female zebra is friendly. It can weigh a whopping 510 pounds, almost as much as the male! Zebras usually do not attack unless threatened though, whew! The large animal, the zebra, mates all year round, but mostly during the early rainy season. Eighteen male zebras battle it out with the dominant male at that certain time to see who has the rights to mate with the number one female. In three years, female zebras are able to mate, and the is able when he is about five. Found mainly in the Southern Savanna, these hungry zebras can also be found in the arid plains of eastern Africa. They are also found in many national parks because hunters kill countless zebras for their picturesque fur, much as the elephant for its tusks. During the day, zebras are not as active as they are at night. The zebra easily adapts to just about anything Africa can throw at them, from poachers to food shortage. Therefore, one of the most successful herbivores in Africa. These friendly zebras main predator is the lion. When attacked by a lion, the zebra makes it difficult to eat just one zebra, so it is kind of all for one, and one for all! as the Three Musketeers would say. Also, poachers present another problem. People are trying to stop the hunting of endangered animals, but as long as people have the right to bear arms, we will keep running into this horrible problem. The poachers get a large sum of money for killing these poor, defenseless, endangered animals, and selling their fur on the black market. Zebras are Africa's most brilliant painted horses. They are truly astonishing animals. I think one should go see the zebras at the nearby Great Plains Zoo to get a real idea of what they look like. Thanks for reading my report on an extraordinary animal, The Plains Zebra. Discussing a number of key factors driving change in the health as well as social services through examining strengths, weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats, therefore, remains essential. Strengths relate to organizational aspects that include resources, both physical and financial, expertise staff and other internal factors of an organization. Through identification of opportunities from the external environment that rhyme with the internal capabilities, organizations capitalize on the strengths. Weaknesses on the other hand amount to deficiencies arising from incompetent resources of an organization (Whitten, 2009, pg. 117). Poor services or bad reputation of an organization serves as the major weaknesses within an organization setup. Leaders and managers, therefore, need to work on correcting those weaknesses that reduce organizations effectiveness as well as damaging the organization. Opportunities arise from external environment changes. Changes in government policie s or technology fall under that category. Organizations take advantage of presented opportunities in order to grow current services. Threats, on the other hand, relate to external factors presenting risks to the organization. Change of government policies and technological changes forms the major risks that face existing organizations. Examining the weaknesses and threats posed by these factors will enhance responsible institutions to develop achievable strategies to cope with these challenges. The first factor relates to Legislation. Legislation relates to government programs that involve funding and the NHS as the major body entrusted with controlling the health and social services sector. It has also become a necessary business tool with its wide range of applications in the ever-expanding and competitive global environment, especially where acquisitions and mergers are concerned. When Fieldsââ¬â¢ acquired La Petite Boulangerie or LPB in 1987 from PepsiCo, the company saw the huge potential of successful diversification into new sit-in cafà © that would also serve to complement the delights of Fieldsââ¬â¢ cookies. LPB was a French bakery cum sandwich retail chain with 119 outlets. Within a month after the acquisition, Fieldsââ¬â¢ cut down LPBââ¬â¢s administrative staff to 3 from the strength of 53 employees as various administrative functions like accounts, human resource, finance, training, and development were brought within the wider scope of Fieldsââ¬â¢ in-house information system. It was a major tactical strategy that was used to promote centralized monitoring and uniformity in the work functioning across its various outlets. The prime importance of using technologies is not only improving the various processes within the system but also the overall performance. It also greatly facilitates the merger of diverse ideologies and processes for improved performance. In the case of LPB, it was an essential tool to promote better efficiency in the delivery of the common organizational goals and objectives. In a fiercely competitive business environment, the firm gains the position by leveraging its strengths by improving and improvising its business management and organizational goals. ââ¬ËA company can outperform rivals only if it can establish a difference that it can preserve. It must deliver greater value to customers or create comparable value at a lower cost, or do bothââ¬â¢ (Porter, 1996). The technology-driven organization culture within the parent company needs to become the intrinsic part of all its subsidiaries and acquisitions. The mother and the female companion usually really like each other or they hate each other. In Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Hamlet, Gertrude and Ophelia has a steady relationship with each other. But Gertrudeââ¬â¢s relationship Hamlet starts off as unhappy and ends with death. Throughout the play Hamlet is questioning Gertrudeââ¬â¢s love for him and his father which cause their once steady relationship to shaken. For Ophelia and Hamlet, both were so in love, but later in the play shows Ophelia worrying about Hamlet and her love for him slowly diminishing. Gertrude and Ophelia have their own important role in the play with how they affect Hamletââ¬â¢s decisions all through the play. Hamletââ¬â¢s mother, Gertrude, begins the play with Hamlet upset with her for marrying his uncle, Claudius. She does not see what is wrong with the marriage and tries to tell Hamlet to get over his fatherââ¬â¢s death. The Act I clearly show that Gertrudeââ¬â¢s and Hamletââ¬â¢s mother-son relationship will never as it once was. Gertrude still tries to help Hamlet throughout the play by trying to convince Claudius to leave Hamlet alone and that Hamlet feels guilt for what he has done. Hamlet hesitate killing Claudius because he is now Gertrudeââ¬â¢s husband and Hamlet may unconsciously feel a connection with Claudius as his stand by father. If Gertrude never married Claudius, then Hamlet would probably have the confidence to kill Claudius when he found out that he was the one that killed his father. All through the play Gertrude protects Hamlet. She unknowingly adds fuel to the flame that is Hamletââ¬â¢s detestation for the marriage. With Gertrude playing the ââ¬Å"victimâ⬠in Claudiusââ¬â¢, Hamlet has someone who will remain faithful to him. If Gertrude knew about the plan to kill Hamletââ¬â¢s father, then Hamlet would never have stayed to revenge his fatherââ¬â¢s death because the Hamlet does not have enough courage to do so. Ophelia is the daughter of Polonius and her life seems to not be under her control. Her decisions are made by what Polonius or Hamlet tells her to do. Ophelia is sweet and innocent ompared to Gertrudeââ¬â¢s incestuous act. Ophelia keeps Hamlet calm since she is the most stable person that he has in his life. But later Ophelia goes wild because Hamlet is also crazy. Most of the characters believe that Ophelia is acting this way because of the death of her father, Polonius, but in actuality it is because Hamlet turned on her. Opheliaââ¬â¢s innocence was taken by Hamlet and it caused her to not listen to the advice from her brother, Laertes. Ophelia received most of Hamletââ¬â¢s anger that was meant to be directed towards his mother instead. She was there for Hamlet to relieve any built up tension he had. Ophelia denied that Hamlet did not lover her, but when she died Hamlet is seen at her funeral confessing his love for Ophelia to Laertes saying that he did not mean to cause Opheliaââ¬â¢s death. Both Gertrude and Ophelia were the safety nets for Hamlet in the play. Even though Hamlet felt as if he could trust know one the two women in the play were meant to keep Hamlet alive as long as possible. Between Claudius killing Hamletââ¬â¢s father, and Gertrude and Ophelia not knowing this fact helped push Hamletââ¬â¢s verdict on what he is going to do. Shakespeare put the Gertrude and Ophelia in the play to maintain the balance of good and evil, purity and sin. They are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleotides, and water. These are all very important to humans and without them we would not be able to survive. They have many functions that encourage a human cell and a human body to function. à à à à à Carbohydrates include sugars and starches, contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen which appears in a ratio of 1:2:1. Carbohydrates are classified according to size as monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. The primary function of carbohydrates is to serve as sources of energy. Carbohydrates are some of the most numerous molecules in living organisms. They play a major role as food molecules in the cell, being broken down to produce energy. Polysaccharides play an important role serving as energy reserves also. It provides a quick-release energy source that keeps us going between meals. Small amounts of carbohydrates are also used for structural purposes and others are attached to outer surfaces of cell membranes to guide cellular interactions. For many cells, sugars are the most important source of energy. à à à à à Lipids are important because they function as structural components of cell membranes, sources of insulation, and a mean of energy storage. The lipid molecules are most well known as forming basic structures of cell membranes and as energy storage molecules as well. In this group of lipids, there are about three main types: true fats (triglycerides), phospholipids, and steroids. True fats represent the bodyââ¬â¢s most abundant and concentrated source of usable energy. When they are oxidized, they yield large amounts of energy. They are stored chiefly in fat deposits beneath the skin and around body organs, where they help insulate the body and protect deeper body tissues from heat loss and bumps. True fats are a storage form for excess food, they are stored energy. Any type of food consumed in excess need to be converted to fat and stored. Phospholipids although similar in structure to the true fats, are not stored energy but rather structural components of cel ls. Lecithin is a phospholipid that is part of our cell membranes and myelin provides electrical insulation for nerve impulse transmission. The third group is steroids and cholesterol is an important steroid. Cholesterol is another component of cell membranes and a form of cholesterol in the skin is changed to vitamin D on exposure to sunlight. All of the sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone are also steroids. Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14725423375875775554noreply@blogger.com0
